Abstract
Aesthetics, as the science of sensitive knowledge, can play an essential role in promoting the reintegration of humans into nature and the re-appropriation of our felt naturalness. On this path, the concept of “ecological Self”, proposed by the Norwegian philosopher Arne Næss, reinterpreted in the light of an aesthetic perspective, is crucial in considering a discontinuity from the anthropocentric worldview, promoting a more respectful environmental approach. It interprets the Gestalt psychology principle («the whole is more than the sum of the parts») metaphysically and implies a radical rethinking of the relationship between human beings and nature from a relational and bio-egalitarian perspective.
