Umanità e Antropocene. Oltre il patto della modernità

Abstract
In this article, we want to think about the relationship of humanity and “human” character with the Anthropocene event, in the broad sense of a new era that partly includes and incorporates postmodernity itself. To this end, we believe it is useful to look at this novelty with a view to overcoming not only modernity, which has mostly happened before recent times, but overcoming a supposed “pact” for humanity that modernity seemed to represent: the pact between power and meaning, whereby human beings renounced meaning in the name of power. In light of this, our attempt will be to understand not only how the overcoming of an epochal boundary can be attested and justifiable, but what it implies in relation to the idea of “humanism”. If going beyond the pact of modernity, which postmodernity still partly safeguards, means that meaning returns to acquire centrality for humanity with respect to power, it will be necessary to justify why this can happen precisely with the event of the Anthropocene.
