Karl Löwith and the modern reconciliation with natural reality.

Abstract
The essay focuses on two decisive passages of Löwith’s pars construens
of philosophical naturalism: the re-proposition of the classical notions of physis
and cosmos on the one hand, and on the other the invitation to question the
modern (and contemporary) perspective of unlimited progress. These two acquisitions delivered to us by the löwithian scepsi allow us to reconcile ourselves
with an anthropology and an ethics of eco-belonging useful to frame also the
current ecological crisis, from a theoretical and ethical-political point of view. In
short, they allow us to define a philosophical and cosmopolitan citizenship at the
height of the current planetary crises and for which it is possible – and urgent –
to engage as individuals and as community.
