Abstract

Starting with a reference to Karl Löwith’s book (Meaning in History. The Theological Implications of the Philosophy of History), in which Joachim of Fiore’s place is central, this short essay attempts to focus on two passages that are still fundamental today in order to understand the symbolic and philosophical interweaving between historicism and apocalypticism. A paradoxical overlapping of images and meanings, which makes the rereading of Gioacchino da Fiore’s thought particularly stimulating, in relation to the hermeneutic perspectives opened up by the German philosopher.
