Abstract

The article is about the relationship between Karl Löwith and Max Weber,
a fundamental figure in his early years. In particular, it focuses on Löwith’s discussion
of groundless relativism about the question of values in Weber and its political
consequences. It is also related to the nihilistic decisionism of Schmitt’s thought. In
fact, both authors represent a form of political nihilism to which Löwith responds by
rediscovering the principle of Nature. However, how the ethical and political question develops within Löwith’s thought remains an open question.
