Nietzsche and Kierkegaard philosophers of existence
Abstract
The aim of this contribution is, starting from an interpretative intuition of Karl Jaspers, to make a comparison between Kierkegaard and Nietzsche as philosophers of existence. They are close on the level of the criticism to historicist rationality and to the foundational intent of positivistic and idealistic systems. The most important theoretical meeting point between the two authors, however, is represented by their existential meditation focused on the categories of event and singularity. From this perspective, life and knowledge meet in a renewed notion of truth seen not as disembodied knowledge but as a concrete experience and practice of life.
