The purpose of this contribution is to analyze one of the latest books written by Adriano Prosperi and published for Einaudi in 2021.
Starting from a general summery of the three differet chapters, this work aims to explain, following Prosperi’s issues, wihch is the position that history has been given since at least the second half of the twentieth century. These pages try to show how does the historical research has been changing through the years and which are the principal risks of living in a present that does not include his own past.
