The paper intends to show the inner connection between a transcendental-phenomenological theory of consciousness and the practical dimension. To this end, I will primarily focus on the notion of intentionality and on the nonegological theory of consciousness as developed by the early Husserl, the young Sartre and Aron Gurwitsch. More specifically, I will show how the practical nature of the notion of transcendental field takes the form of a socio-phenomenological theory in Gurwitsch, while leading in Sartre to the development of a theory of (political) action.
