The theoretical framework and the anthropology of humanism have been deeply criticized over the past two centuries from multiple perspectives. The result of these critiques has very often been the emergence and formation of theoretical alternatives that have sought to define a human beyond the human being, such as posthuman and transhumanism. In particular, the position of transhumanism in relation to humanism, and the Enlightenment which is a continuation of it, is rather ambiguous, since at the same time it rejects their conception of man and it claims a theoretical continuity with their major exponents presenting itself almost as their conclusion. In this essay we question the relationship between humanism and transhumanism in search of elements that can help us unravel this ambivalence.
