This paper aims to present some theoretical and sociological hypotheses from

which to argue the current reception and the perspectives of Italian Theory in Germany. The current landscape of philosophical disciplines within and outside German academia will be analyzed in the first instance. In the second instance, a definition of German Theory will be proposed to designate a specific disciplinary orientation that can resonate with the proposal of Italian Theory. Finally, the

heuristic potential of Italian Theory for German Theory will be highlighted.
