Abstract

One of the outcomes of the debate on the role of censorship and its effects on writing in the works of modern philosophers, especially in the XVIIIth century, is the attention to the formal aspect of philosophical texts. When the author cannot express his ideas clearly it is necessary to analyse stylistic choices, read “between lines” and understand the context. The works of the Italian philosopher Nicola Fiorentino, exponent of the radical and democratic Italian Enlightenment in the Naples Kingdom is an emblematic example of these practices of disguised writing.

Keywords
